Originally published as part of a series of maps for a realty company, these depictions of downtown San Francisco in 1952 now function as a time-capsule. Densely loaded with information including the business/owner of each plot, along with the land and building values (L&B), this is a map that rewards close-looking with a loupe or magnifying glass. Sheet 1 covers the area between Fremont Street and Fourth Street on the right/left borders and Natoma Street along the bottom and the intersection of Pine & Kearny Streets along the top. Sheet 2 focuses on the area from Fourth Streets to mid-block between 7th and 8th Streets on the right/left borders and Minna Street along the bottom with the intersection of Jones & Ellis at the top. Market Street runs left to right through the middle of both maps making it easy to hang them next to one another for a seamless panorama. Each print is hand-coated and produced with the cyanotype process on archival watercolor paper. Available in 16” x 20” and 11” x 14” sizes.
